This
week has been full of lots of learning and growing and
stretching. That often requires discomfort, but the experience is
worth the battle.
This week had a few interesting experiences. We found out that the
Father in the Soto family is actually a less active member. I was able
to teach them the Plan of Salvation with Sister Tep while on
Exchanges. It was so wonderful to see how well God has prepared their
family. They are so excited, and we love the opportunities that we
have to meet with them each week!
As stated, this week we got to do our first set of exchanges for the
transfer, so I got the opportunity to work with Sister Tep. Sister Tep
is from Cambodia and was a convert at age 16. She learned English in
the MTC and has only been out for a few months. She was such a great
example to me of Faith. She couldn't always explain things the way I
am sure she wanted to, but she bore sincere testimony of the divinity
of Christ so simply that it could not be denied. She is so great! I
also got to do and exchange with Hermana Deroche. She is so wonderful
as well. I could only dream of being able to teach in Spanish as well
as English. The Lord had me speak English for a reason :)
So I just want to share some of the things I feel like I have learned
the past few months. I am so grateful for the blessings that I am able
to see every single day. I know that this is where I am supposed to be.

In Hebrews 11, Paul writes to the people sharing with them so many
glorious things that have been possible because of faith. So I guess
my question to all of you is… What is possible because of your faith?
I would invite you to look for those things in your life that might be
possible with a little more faith, and then develop the faith for them
to happen. We know, and we are promised that life is full of
struggles. We all have them, but Heavenly Father has prepared us for
them, and as long as we depend on the Savior, we will find the
strength that we need to keep moving forward.
In Ether 6, this principle is explained. As the Jaredites make their
way to the promised land in their barges, we are told in verse 5:
"And it came to pass that the Lord God caused that there should be a
furious wind blow upon the face of the waters, towards the promised
land; and thus they were tossed upon the waves of the sea before the
wind."
We know that not all of our trials are caused by God, but he certainly
allows them to happen. We all experience the "furious wind[s]
blow[ing] upon the face of the waters." What we don't always remember
is that these winds blow us towards the promised land. We need trials
to strengthen us. We won't move anywhere without the wind. We need
it-- to make us stronger, and to carry us to the blessings that God
has promised to the faithful.
All in all, I know that this Gospel is true, and that we are where we
are for a purpose. I cannot always identify that purpose, but I know
that it is there. I am so blessed to be able to witness so many of the
miracles of God every single day and to come to know so well that God
really is involved in every aspect of our lives. I know that the
people we are teaching have been prepared to receive "that portion
which shall be meted unto [them]" (D&C 84:85) This is such a wonderful
plan and I know that it is perfect because God is perfect.
I love you all! I hope this week is treating you well and that you
recognize the blessings in the wind :)
Sister Hope
